New collection to leave trade visitors Breathless in Hong Kong

Rebecca Paterson, the creative force behind Breathless, has garnered quite a reputation in Western Australia and abroad and she will be bringing her new collection to Hong Kong in the New Year.

Breathless will be attending World Boutique, Hong Kong Fashion Week from 14-18 January 2008, at Hong Kong Convention and Entertainment Centre.

Rebecca has been designing quirky couture and grunge street fashion for over seven years, in her studio in Burswood with partner Helen Rimpas.

Rebecca says the environment her and her fellow designers work in is responsible for the fresh and unique designs that will be on show during the event.

“The atmosphere at Breathless is of the creative larrikin kind and all family members are kindred in this larrikin spirit. Reflection and deflection are necessary within cracking a joke and understanding the next experimental dress that materialises,” Rebecca says.

In 2002, after successful runway shows at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week in Sydney and Melbourne, Rebecca returned home to be awarded WA Designer of the Year.

Since then, Rebecca’s work has been exhibited internationally in Japan, Korea and Europe including Victoria Albert Museum of London, where it was received extremely favourably.

Breathless is stocked in the most reputable stores in Australia and internationally and recently a new store in Time Square, Claremont, Perth has opened stocking only the work coming out of Rebecca’s studio.

World Boutique, Hong Kong Fashion Week runs from the 14 – 18 January 2008 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

World Boutique, Hong Kong is an event dedicated to showcasing collections from established as well as up-and-coming fashion designers, coupled with a dazzling display of accessories including jewellery, bags, shoes, watches and lifestyle products. With a wide spectrum of items on display, buyers should find this exhibition a comprehensive boutique for sourcing and viewing.

The fair features over 200 brand names and designers' collections from Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, the Chinese mainland, Finland, France, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, the US and Vietnam.

World Boutique, Hong Kong attracted a total of 13,894 trade visitors from around the world. In 2008, Hong Kong Fashion Week will feature over 1,000 companies specialising in mass merchandise as well as high fashion items.

Breathless will be attending this event as part of the Australian Designer Showcase on stand 5C104.  The Australian Designer Showcase is a project of the TCF Resource Centre of Western Australia (TCFWA) and Belmont BEC, non profit community associations assisting designers to develop new national & international market.  TCFWA will also be announcing its new project at World Boutique Hong Kong -  TCF Global an international project to assist fashion designer around the globe.
